Shideya Parrilla

I have been a student at American University for two years now and as a result of a variety of factors I felt extremely excluded and alone. That is until I joined AUCatholic. Being surrounded by a community of fellow believers where God's love is not only present but immensely felt absolutely changed my mood on campus. I want other students in the AU community to experience that as well. I am no stranger to community service or inclusion. I am a former mentor of the Latino Student Fund and current tutor. I also serve as a Eagle Diversity Peer Educator through the Center for Diversity and Inclusion. Since being a part of AUCatholic, I have attended Faith, Food, and Fellowship, Women's Group, Daily (sometimes) and Weekend Mass, and Adoration. I could list a whole lot of reasons why I desire to be Community Outreach/Service Chair, but the main reason is that I want to be a help facilitate what we are all called to do: spread the love of Jesus throughout campus and our community.
