Hi everyone! My name is Megan Burns and I am currently a freshman here at American University with a major in Spanish Studies. When I started my fall semester at AU, I was so grateful to find such a strong sense of community in AUCatholic. During that first semester I involved myself as much as I could through Daily and Sunday Masses as well as Eucharistic Adoration and the Faith, Food and Fellowship weekly event. One of the most influential activities, however, was Women’s Group that was held every Wednesday. Being surrounded by so many like-minded young women who were all around my age was so empowering and comforting, and created just the kind of community I was hoping for. It gave me the chance to share with people I felt secure with and knew would support me through whatever struggles I was facing, whether it be in my spiritual life or just in day-to-day challenges. Now, leading the Women’s Ministry for the spring 2019 semester has presented me with an amazing opportunity to connect with even more young women facing similar obstacles, seeking the same community with the desire to make connections through Christ. I really look forward to planning and organizing outings that will develop both our personal friendships and devotion to our faith. I am very excited to be a part of this leadership team, and to help other women recognize and celebrate the beautiful, merciful love of Jesus.
