why summer missions?
“If I preach the gospel, this is no reason for me to boast, for an obligation has been imposed on me, and woe to me if I do not preach it!
1 CORINTHIANS 9:16
Evangelization is a core part of being Catholic. It is the CORNERSTONE of all pastoral action, the demands of which are primary, preeminent and preferential.
The mission trip is unique because it is an opportunity to experience evangelization like never before, and to experience the Gospel literally. The summer mission is a school of life, of prayer, and of mission. You will learn how to evangelize and how to pray, all this while growing in friendships and community with others.
Our days will be centered around prayer: Morning and night prayer, Mass, Gospel meditations, Rosary, and a visit to the Blessed Sacrament.
Each morning and afternoon, we will go out in groups of 3 to different houses within walking distance of our home base in San Ignacio. We will visit parishioners to pray with them, share our testimonies, hear their stories, and encourage them to start attending Mass again if they have stopped. We will also invite them to a retreat we will host at the end of the two weeks.
