Fr. Iván Pertiné

CHAPLAIN — priest@american.edu

Fr. Iván Pertiné is very excited to serve as AU´s catholic chaplain! He is the director of the Saint John Society (SJS- www.socsj.org), a new Catholic Organization of priests and missionaries that work in USA, Italy, Argentina, and Uruguay. He led the Catholic Newman Centers at Oregon State University and at Portland State University for 3 years before coming to Washington, DC and starting the SJS house of studies for their seminarian theological students. He currently serves as the formator for the SJS theological students while collaborating with Fr. Mario Majano at Misión San Andres, in Silver Spring, Maryland. He holds a License Degree in Philosophy and an S.T.B. in Theology by the Pontifical Catholic University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Fr. Iván has been a Catholic Priests for 18 years (14 in Argentina). During his priestly ministry in Argentina he worked in a state prison, served as a pastor in a rural parish, worked with college and high school students, led different types of evangelization programs, and led evangelization missions in poor slums of different cities in Argentina.
