SAINT JOHN SOCIETY (SJS) MISSIONARIES
John Poodts (on left): I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. During my last year of high school I drew closer to Christ and started developing a personal relationship with Him, especially through the experience of mission trips and a good group of friends with whom I shared my faith. I decided to study philosophy and become a professor, but during my second year of college Jesus invited me to follow Him in a closer way as a missionary and to become a priest. I entered the Saint John Society in 2011 and spent some years working full-time in apostolate. After that, I resumed my studies and finished my degrees in philosophy. In 2017, I moved to Washington DC for my theological studies and I am currently in my third year of theology at the Dominican House of Studies.
Hermogenes Ramos-Mejia (on right): I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina but moved very quickly to the city of Cordoba in Argentina. In my junior year of high school I met Christ in a spiritual retreat with the Saint John Society. Before that my relationship with God and his Church was scarce and poor. It was through the testimony of a radical community that wanted to follow Jesus and live his teachings that I realized that it had to be true. And not only that, that it was worth it to go all out for it. Thanks to the community and the different activities that SJS would put together I got to take my faith more seriously, inviting Jesus to all the aspects of my life. In 2012 I decided to follow Jesus more literally and answer the call He was making. In 2018 I arrived in DC to study theology and right now I'm in my third year. Since I entered the Society, I've been studying and missioning to help all the people I encounter experience the love of God as I have since those years in high school.
